Why “free online resume maker” searches go wrong

The intent is simple: no install, no fee, a PDF you can upload today. Sites know that, so “free” sits in the title and the charge sits behind Download. Three common endings:

• Edit free, export paid — You already typed contact details and two jobs. The membership modal appears only then.
• Watermark or image-only PDF — Parsers need text. A logo in the corner looks unprofessional; a full-page screenshot often parses as empty.
• Account required to save — A resume holds a phone number and email. You should not create an account before you know where that data goes.

Five checks before you type
