Why “free and fast” often yields a throwaway draft
People hear “free resume” and download the first pretty file. They hear “quick” and paste an old Word dump. What they send is a two-column PDF that ATS cannot read, or a duty list with no outcomes. Recruiters give you seconds. Design without results is a skipped application.
Free should not mean low quality, and fast should not mean no structure. A sendable page needs conventional headings, selectable text, and bullets that answer what you did and to what effect. Why a free online builder is usually quicker
Word is fine when the layout is already locked and you work offline. If you must retune 4–6 bullets per posting or switch to a safer layout, a free online resume maker is cheaper in time: content stays when you change templates, and you see overflow before you export.

This clock assumes you can name your last two roles. If memory is fuzzy, write employer, title, dates, and one result on paper first.

- Fill only what blocks sending (~5 min): Name, phone, email, city, and one target-role line. Delete empty hobbies and vague “about me” so the page belongs to experience.

- Align skills to the posting (~3 min): List tools you can demo. Borrow 3–5 exact terms from the job description. Certificate names without a scene do not help.

Three things not to skip when you rush
- Results you can defend: No vanity metric? Use scope, cycle time, people covered, or “shipped on the date.” Soft praise (“hard-working,” “great communicator”) dies in interviews.
- Boring, standard headings: “Experience,” not “My journey.” Parsers and humans both look for those words.
- A text PDF: Open the export and select a job title. A full-page image or nested text boxes often parse as blank in applicant systems.
